DIRE: Kelli - 06/1998

Kelli is a singer and recites poetry.  She is polite, kind, and is a quick learner.  Kelli's best friend was just adopted by another family. Their daughter decribes Kelli as "a lively girl, 13 years old. She  also has cerebral palsy and I have the same disease. We are very very good friends. She is very kind-hearted, sensible, beautiful, and considerate of others. Sometimes when I was not happy, she helped me to resolve my  grief. I miss her so much."
"She has shared her secrets and hopes with me  as close friends. She and I both would like to see the magic fairy show, "Palace." Her dreams include  becoming  a singer. She loves make-up,  and we enjoy watching singers on TV together. Her number one wish is to have a family and  to have a home. She is so loving and is interested in many topics including talking about  health. She dreams of leaving the orphanage and what a vacation might be like. "

Kelli has CP and she has improved so much she can sing and dance now, and she really wants a family.  She is cute, smart, active, outgoing, and likes to communicate with people. She doesn’t have many restrictions for most activities. She takes classes in the institute and is a serious student and quick learner. Her ennunciation is not clear for some words, but she can write with her left hand. She likes to study math and English and can speak some simple English. She enjoys performing and likes it when she receives praise from others. She is independent in daily life, and can help teachers and friends and can take care of others. Her teachers and friends really like her and she gets along well with others.

The adoption authorities just saw this child recently and really wish her to have a home. They said in fact her physical and mental conditions are much better than people would think by reading her medical file. The medicals are out dated and old. We have an updated video and are waiting for the updated medical information. Since she ages out in June  she needs a family whose dossier is in country and immigration approval is current. We would be happy to move her file to another agency for a family who wants to adopt her. This orphanage may be willing to lower  her orphanage donation if a family requests it. My heart breaks for this child who so much longs for a family.

Thanks for your help with getting the word out about this girl. She is described as sweet, and it’s clear many people hope she can be adopted.

DIRE: Kyle - 2/1998

Kyle is a sweet and very handsome boy who greatly wants a family of his own.  On admission, he is timid and strained and dare not to speak to other children. He has little words and sometimes even shed tears due to sadness. After a time of caring by the caretakers in the institute, he became more and more outgoing and can speak first to other children with more words. The staff in the institute all likes him. In the teachers’ eyes of the school, he is a compliant and sensible child. On admission, he was 9 years old and is a 3rd year student in school. He listened carefully in classes and is ready to help others. The childhood has not left a shadow on his heart. Time flies, he grows up and became more and more bright and sunny and confident. In the institute, he can get on well with others and is ready to help those in need. The little brothers and sisters like him very much and are dependent on him. In life, he would take care of those younger than him. At the same time, he has good self-care ability and has regular life. He gets up at 5:30, clean up and run on the playground at 6:00, breakfast at 6:00, arrive at school on time at 7:00. Now he is at the second year of junior high school. He makes more friends. He is passionate and knows to care about others. In study, he works hard but he likes Chinese best and is doing averagely in other subjects. After school, he often plays basketball with other children. He likes to travel out with the guidance of teachers. At this time, he would be like a happy bird, twittering all along with the teachers and students. On Sep 1, he would be a student of 3rd year when he will have more tasks. We hope he would have a bright future.

URGENT - Darien - 01/1998

Darien is beloved by his teachers and always willing to help. He is well liked by his classmates, too. He is active and happy and loves sports. He participates in sports meets and won the championship, earning a cute nickname. He considers the institute his family currently, but sees other children get adopted and fostered and says that he wants a mother and father of his own. When asked if he wants to be adopted, he happily agrees. Darien needs a family that is close to dossier ready who would like to pursue him.

Darien is on ASIA's designated list with a $5,000 grant available for his adoption. Marci said she would transfer his file to another agency if he had a family who wanted to pursue him, though the grant would not follow him!

UPDATE: Scott - 01/1999

10/19/11 UPDATE - Scott has been matched with a family!!!!!


Scott is a shy, honest and responsible boy. He has been in the orphanage for 4 years now and has adjusted well. He gets along with others well and is very caring. He buys snacks with his allowance and shares with the other children. He does a good job with his chores. Before he came to the orphanage he had not received proper education, so he has some difficulty in school from his lack of foundation. He gets extra help is very studious and determined. He likes to draw is currently learning to draw in the big sisters program. He likes to read all kinds of children's books and novels. He is honest and a good and sensible boy.

Scott is an incredibly determined and brave child. Through his rehabilitation training, he never gave up, even when he was covered in sweat. He takes the role of monitor at school and helps the other children. At the orphanage he also helps the other children with basic daily living tasks, like washing their faces. He is extremely generous and shares his delicious food and favorite toys with others. He is part of the Half the Sky program and cherishes his opportunity, so he studies hard. He has an excellent memory and can remember what he is taught. In his free time, he likes to read poems and sing. He is excellent at math. He didn’t think he could draw very well, but saw a beautiful picture and the teacher encouraged him to try to draw it. He tried after some convincing and drew a beautiful picture. He sees his brothers and sisters get adopted into families and very much wants a family of his own.

An advocate wrote, "I had our local ped ortho doc take a look at his feet and he seems to think they would be very easy to fix. I pray this beautiful boy finds his family!!!"
